The Dance of Freedom

As I ride the train to school, I am fascinated by the number of passengers coddling their phone. My eyes wander off to the mountains, the construction of roads and buildings, the passing of cars, and, once again, back to the people surrounding me—wondering where they’re going and what moves their thoughts. I feel the movement below my feet and hear the rattles as the car moves forward—with purpose and precision. The man in front of me smells of fresh coffee and musky cologne. I drink my own coffee, but immediately pull back because it’s still too hot. Instead of spending time with technology, I’d rather be doing just this—being in the now. Life is a beautiful dance that many of us take for granted. Being here, in the moment, is my favorite dance of all—it’s the dance of freedom.
