The Red Bicycle

The Red Bicycle

There was a young man who owned a splendid red racing bike. He would compete in bicycle races often with his red bicycle and he would win many of them as the years went by. It was a wonderful thing to race on his red bike and cross the finishing line as the winner of each race he took part in. Yet, one day, he fell very ill, and his health failed him completely. Gone were the days of racing and winning on his lovely red bicycle. He grew so sick and weak of body and spirit that he had no choice but to sell his red bike to his old friend Bob who had also taken up the sport of cycling recently. He parted ways with his old red bike, and it now belonged to his friend who took it out cycling each weekend for a lovely ride. But Bob was a bit overweight, and the red racing bike was not built to carry such a heavy chap as himself. As such the bike battled under his weight and soon it began going to ground completely. The tires got flat and the wheels buckled from its heavy burden. One of the petals broke and soon the chain snapped of completely. The breaks were now worn out and not working at all anymore. The once splendid red bicycle was now a virtual wreck under the weight of such a fat man as Bob. He put it in storage in his shed and there it stood for a very long time just gathering rust. As time passed it was covered in dust and all but forgotten. It was just a lost treasure of an old victorious racing bicycle. One day some years later Bob cleaned out his garden shed and found the old dilapidated red bike, lost and forgotten by all. He had no more use for it since he had long since given up the sport. He sold it to the Pawn Shop for next to nothing and the old, wrecked bike stood there going for cheap. All who passed by the shop would look at him but found no use for him at all. Yet one day the old champion who had recovered from his illness over the years saw his beloved old red bike standing there going for a sale. He fell in love with his old red bicycle from the start and soon bought it for a good price from the Pawn Shop owner. He fixed up the wheels and repaired the broken pedal and chain. After the brakes were done over the old bike was completely overhauled it was good as new to the man. He was older now and entered to local races as a veteran of the sport. Soon he was back to his old winning form and so was his splendid red racing bike. He won many a competition once again riding proudly on his old red friend and bike. All good things come to he who waits. Old friends will never be forgotten for long. Live to ride - Ride to live.

Me likes the way the bike is it's own character. I wanna give this a go.
A story where an inanimate object becomes a lovable character
