The Silhouette of a Murderer

He follows me everywhere I go. Protecting me from evil. But then convincing me of worser deeds. As a child I believed him to be my guardian angel. I could not have been more wrong. Bringing my dark thoughts to the light. Tricking me as if a fox was its spirit animal. But he had no spirit, no soul, no face. I began to believe he was my shadow. And I, just a little delusional. But one night he woke me and I could see him more clearly. The room was pitch black but he was darker. He wasn't even shaped like a human. Definitely not my shadow. I was tired, my mind groggy, and he told me to kill my dog. Said my dog was sick and I'd be taking it out of its misery. I don't remember what happened next, I don't even remember having a dog. It must of just been a nightmare. He rarely showed up after that. But I always felt him. When I was at my weakest and wanted to explode with violent angry attacks. I felt as if he was controlling me, whispering in my ear to just let go and let him take over. I always fought it. Never laying a finger on anyone. Even more time passed and he seemed to have disappeared. Probably grew tired of my strong will. Then I fell in love. My emotions were at their strongest. Good emotions. She only brought joy in my life. Our first fight was our last. I never knew how angry someone could make me feel until it was the person I loved the most. She slapped me for yelling at her. As my head turn with force, I found myself staring at the kitchen clock. 3:32am. It's late. Too late. 3:33am. That minute was the fastest and longest time of my life. I felt as if I had blacked out. I was again facing my wife. But there, in between us, stood a dense shadow. It wasn't mine, nor hers, but it did belong to me. There he was, standing there as if he never left. Within a second he was gone. No movement, he just vanished. My wife, somehow now turned around, standing there motionless. Her body dropped and everything faded. I was now kneeling over her. Blood everywhere. My hands covered. I went to go pick her up but I stopped. Slowly rising, I had no control over my body. As my head is forced up from looking down at my wife, my eyes catch the mirror in the living room. I do not see myself, but a faceless shadow staring right back at me.
