Theres no place like home

Last night I worked with an American Nurse, a Romanian Healthcare, an Italian healthcare and me. The conversation drifted to the ethics of work. The Rumanian said 'the English don"t want to work, they do 2 shifts and dont want to do anymore'
I had to agree and they're only in their twenties. The American Nurse who reminded me of Tinkerbell, slim, animated, in some sort of cartoon mini dance of life ( though I thought she was refreshingly sweet) agreed with the Rumanian, saying that RumaniansĀ do 7 shifts a week, and me, I was a little peeved at first..then had to agree, some of the young ones are nesh..they've been pampered with political correctness and bullying, it is the millennial, and us of the older generation had it all shoved down our necks and coped with it, on our own. I dont recall many suicides or mental health issues in my youth, though I admit there were some. I said,
' no not me, nor my kids or family, we've always worked our but off, at one point I had a full time job, and two others aswell, I worked my holidays and weekends"
Damn me, at that moment a lad came in and complained hed been allocated an extra shift and was joining a union over it. I high fives the Rumanian. Later the American Nurse came to ask me to assist with dressing a ladies leg, I saidĀ " hadn't you better ask the Rumanian, us English don' t like work..! " Bless her, they dont get our humour..but we did a skip down the corridor off to see the wizard...variety..the spice of life..
