Watch Her Run!

Watch Her Run!

He awoke early that morning, as soon as his eyes opened his unceasing urges were never far from his darkened mind.
Knowing she would be at the gym that day and always starting on the same treadmill. He positioned himself perfectly on the closest one to her so he could inhale her feminine scent as he ran next to her, Β imagining touching that delicate skin and tasting that sweet aroma that engulfed his senses each day.
As he ran he envisioned chasing her through the back lane where he often watched her, she was so beautiful, so fast and he wanted to devour her. He imagined her fighting back, this filled him with such anticipation. He wanted her to struggle, he wanted to show her just how powerful he was.
A moment of lapsed concentration saw him tumbling from the treadmill.
Before he knew it she was on the ground next to him, tending to his damaged ankle, never had he been this close. Her soft fingers gently caressed his swollen ankle, Β reaching over him to grab the first aid box she accidentally brushed her arm past his lips.Β  Gritting his teeth to curb the overwhelming desire to sink them into her tender pink flesh, it took all that he had not to bite her. He hated that she had this control over him. The taste of her salty skin lingered on his lips as he licked them. He was going to take control next time.

Leaving aside the implied anthropophagy, this is an intriguing study on the nature of obsession. It is no mean feat to see the world out of the eyes of this kind of unsympathetic character and it's no small act of bravery, on a writer's part, to attempt it at all. But you pull it off here with aplomb.
It's particularly clever how you reverse the established dynamics of this subtle relationship at the end, whilst still leaving open the sense of threat and danger which characterizes the story from the beginning.

Short, sharp and finely crafted.

Now...let's get back to the anthropophagy!! I'm starting to worry about you, Caizley...I really am!!! ?

I love it ... and you.

Hi, Lorna!

"Its getting hot in here!" I enjoyed your poem and the alluring story! Lots of great phrasing and just enough "teasing" to keep me captivated and wanting more! (like a great romance novel)Β

My Dear Lorna,
Wow!Β  What a powerful work.Β  One never knows "what evil lurks in the heart of man".

She kneels to his aid
Unaware, under his mask
There lies a monster

Love,
