The Gay Era

Nowadays it is not unusual to find those that feel they are trapped inside a body of the wrong sex although most members of the gay community are completely happy being their birth gender.

But is this something purely physical or does it stem from a deeper and much more sensitive source?

What makes an individual decide that homosexuality is the way forward for them? 

Environment

Is it possible that the homosexual tendencies are as a result of modern culture? Today it seems cool and hip to be in with the LGBT community as this is welcomed and widely televised with an increasing number of celebrities coming out. I would imagine this to be the case sometimes and perhaps the gradual increase of cross-dressers and same sex couples in soaps and adverts is, over time, becoming a worldwide phenomenon in itself, normalising this new trend into modern culture.

We live in an ever easing world where restrictions of the past are rapidly changing and in fact polarising to become the exact opposite and perhaps LGBT is no exception.

Personal

While there are many outside influences, some individuals genuinely face an inner turmoil which can bring many feelings of guilt, shame and sadness. This was more so in the past and today's world is more accepting than ever. But are we at risk of swaying too far in the opposite direction? I think it's great that the world has been learning to understand the perils of the LGBT community and is more accepting and loving towards those who are merely trying to learn who they are.

However, I do wonder if we are living in a world where being straight is a thing of the past and any children who are produced are done so via IVF or surrogacy. I guess only time will tell on that subject.
