George

Pastel of my mates dog George I did back in 2011.

He loved to play and had a great nature.

Unfortunately George was hit by a car and passed away not long after.

R.I.P George.

I love this! What a sweet face. Again, wonderful work. Is this done with oil pastels?

Thanks again Christina. When I was a teenager I tried oil pastels. This put me off for a good 20 years. This was done with pitt pastel pencils which are soft. I have used derwent pastel pencils before but found them quite hard. I do no blending with fingers or any other tool. This was done in layers applying each layer softer and softer.

He is adorable Darren, he has that certain look in his eye that tells me he was a great loyal friend to your mate.  What a beautiful way to remember a beloved pet.  As you were telling Christina, you can tell it was layered, it has such depth and a reality to it, makes you want to reach out to stroke him.  You are an incredibly talented artist Darren.  Congrats on your nom, well deserved.  5*s and nom from me too:)

Congratulations on your nomination! This is one of the best pieces of art I have ever seen. What a sweet face he has. I'm very sorry for your loss. I'm voting for this and adding it to my favorites. :)

Thank you. He was a lovely dog and to be able to paint this for my friend to help keep his memory alive was an honour.
