Poem -

One More Day

I sit careful on the chair,
Lest I disturb your rest,
Watching your breathing carefully,
I’m glad for one more day.

Reaching out to hold your tiny hand,
In mine, forever, you will be,
Breathing steadily,
I’m so glad for one more day.

How I long to hold you,
Lest the doves fly in,
And take you far from me,
Still, I’m glad for one more day.

As I look upon your face, I think,
This might be the day,
The one I’ve been so watchful for,
When I take you home to stay.
