To compare

To compare

It’s a weighted average.
It’s the sample size.
You shouldn’t think that one fits all,
and you shouldn’t be surprised.

It’s just pointless gambling.
It’s just heavy handling.
You shouldn’t think I’ll play along,
be your compromise.

I know how to act.
I know how to play this game,
and I haven’t chosen that.

I know it’s not fair.
I know that you don’t really care about me.
Actions reveal such happenings,
I know I shouldn’t compare.

Apples to oranges,
Brown to green eyes.
How her laugh makes me feel so warm,
as the memory of yours hides.

But,
Don’t think that I write honestly,
Don’t think I always write fact.
Truth, is I write to play this game,
where the odds are on my side.

I just find it funny to compare you two.
How different you can be!
Yes, I know, it’s quite taboo these days,
But.

No apologies.

Being Me

This reads like a song! It's an interesting perspective too. I guess we are all at it — this "comparing" malarkey x
