Confession

She always had a power over me,
You see.
And I'm pretty old to still be so in love,
I'll agree.

I guess I thought I'd grow up
But never did. I guess when we were kids
There was less to think about.

Hearts often bruise like fruit, her absent
Heart wraps around about
My emptied out
Container mood.

So all year round I watch how adds on TV
Change from AC's to heater appliances
And the then memory of her
Disappears.

How on the horizon of my forties
Seems they'll be disappointing
As the decades of adulthood's previous
Years.

(without her.)

What a beautiful confession, I've spent my entire adult life writing about my first love, it was certainly a crash of sorts. I learned more about myself than in any other moment of my life and the material I have is epic. I wouldn't change a thing.  I love this title and the way in which it speaks your reader so much to relate with from a Gentleman's view. 🌹 Thank you.
