Poem -

Diamond Eyes

You are faded now
As if a dream
Your name but an echo
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And more often a scream
boy with the diamonds
set deep in his eyes
do those diamond eyes see me
do they gaze down from skies
Do the skies hold you prisoner
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
locked away from my arms
Boy with eyes diamond
Set fearless and calm
Where's gone the babe
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
that was suckled to sleep
The young boy and man
That I had thought to keep
you are faded now
~~~~~~~~~~~~
just as lost as the dreams
that have long since been
Dreamed between
~~~~~~~~~~~~
cries and more screams
One's eyes are the wings of your soul. Lovely Poetry.
A modern sounding one, solemn, and slow paced. Gently put, hinting experience, perhaps?
I've read the poem three times. And it still resonates. It's a powerful expression of loss and a delicate portrayal of nostalgia. The poetry here is great. Thanks for posting.
