Poem -

Hope

I'm sitting here alone with my thoughts once more.
They're still loud, but no longer burrow in my core.
The memories still leave their mark.
But I no longer run from the dark.

The past is still painful, making me feel the sting of shame and stabs of guilt.
You thought I'd crumble under this weight and wilt.
...for a moment so did I...
I got back up and said," Today is not the day we rollover and die."

I rise again, back on my feet.
I will be better, I will break these generational curses, that is my feat.
You used to say I carry it well and it's hard to see.
Now, you say,"It looks like you've healed."
My hope is that now maybe I can be free.
