November love

Through our long November I loved.
Sort you out as if on a cloud.
December no good to me now.

I would pretend in your shadow.
Might miss you more than I want to.
Through our long November I loved.

Though I loved you as I ought to
Mightn't change the fact our love was true.
December no good to me now.

To forge against blowing strong gales
I adjusted to the light that fades.
Through our long November I loved.

Last of the month's darkest horrors.
Forget how life can bury us.
December no good to me now.

Left behind me the outer shell.
See I've become something else.
Through our long November I loved.
December no good to me now.

Close as ever I've gotten to a villanelle.
Tetra metre rather than the traditional pentameter, and the rhyming scheme wouldn't be right, and certainly the stressed and none stressed rhythm won't be technical but it's an attempt.

I honestly don't know what a villanelle or a tetra metre is R... I hate the confines of rules so never learned but I will say this is a good read and I enjoyed x

Dear Rory, such a wonderful piece of poetry with a wonderful title, we all have our very own November metaphorically, this is a very special piece of poetry. 🌹

Thank you, SH. My goal in the short term is to work on this form. I must practise if I want to be good. To be honest I'm Sylvia inspired. Rereading The Bell jar. Been twenty years lol
