2020 plague
corona virus
So strange, the times we live
stay home, so you don't give
the sickness to the others
so earth can then recover
let's stop the spreading now
the best way we know how
the masks and gloves we wear
protect us from the air
No, do not despair
rather, be prepared
At some point we will tear,
away from this nightmare
Commander unaware
he said it's just a scare
I think it´s so unfairÂ
the fact he doesn´t care
Thousands people dead
so much will go unsaid
I hope we soon will see
true leaders come to be
who listen to our plea
and take this seriously
So normal life can then
return, I don´t know when
Sooner would be best,
too long I would detest
but not at the price
more lives to sacrifice
I wait here patiently,
not quite so patiently
I wait here consciously
for all this to pass over
the 2020 plague
to fade like a hangover

I HOPE TOO.
A difficult, controversial subject to take on when writing a poem but, in my opinion, this is part of what poetry is for. Difficult it might be but you do it well. I think the 10 lines that begin "commander unaware" are the most significant in the poem. I really like how you express this and, of course, you are right.Â
