2020 Vision

The newly homeless on the street
With begging bowls at their feet.
Half- anxiouz people walking past
Some of whom are wearing masks.

Hand sanitizers inside shop doors
Arrows marked upon the floor
Screens up to try to
Stop us getting ill.
Put up at counters
And at tills.

Places closing early
To slow the spread
Of a tiny virus
We've come to dread.

Who'd have guessed
Five years ago
I guess there's no way
We could have known

That we'd be afflicted
With a disease
Causing financial woes,
Fear, unease.

Another eighteen months
Is what I reckon
Before this will die down
And the old normal can beckon.

Excellent write Michael...I think our grandkids will be looking back on parties and hugging in awe...just like we look back on the war years...a thing of the past...it mutates, it's not going anywhere...???
