45 ACP ECHOES

45 ACP ECHOES

Though done under cover
The ripples gave it away
Though in the dark accomplished
The echo was revealing

Enzo was the first to hear
An unusual sound
He was making donuts
The bakery opened at five

The red flashing lights
Woke the college professor
Classes weren't until nine
But the lights were chilling

Looking back
It wasn’t the best choice
I felt trapped
It was laying on the table

Open and shut
I wondered if I really would
A last thought of many
Pain?

The landlady watched
The body wheeled out
Stained the carpet
Lost the deposit

I almost thought........
“That was loud”
