4th of July Lemonade

4th of July Lemonade

A stolen nation
Independent of others
Made up of others
Yet, still my home

I knew i was here
When love had two sides
Faces that were both black
White
And even in-between
Although hardly seen
They
Them
Us
we are the future

Blinded by the dependency of anger
I didn't see it at first
Or ever
Until the firecrackers lit my way
And quenched my thirst

This is where my heart is
And I am here
The only here i know
where i learned to walk
To talk
My style
My smile
And for a while
My pain

Then washed away and reborn by the rain
I came to name
This place home
