The Cost of Evolution

The Cost of Evolution

Black wolves reignedĀ
While the earth was rich
And no greater animal new it's strength
Life was consistentĀ
And meaningĀ
was meaningless

Packs were of six or more
And time served no purposeĀ
As goals were singular
And dreams
Were for leaders

They often came with scars
But those who saw stars
Would be granted the gift of strength
And the curse of destructionĀ

A single independent act
Caused the pack
To loose it's reignĀ
And steal the mothers richesĀ
As she died while in child birth
To a red wolf
