BEAUTIFUL LIFE

He saw the light dim from her eyes
As her clarity began to fade
She wasn't the woman he once knew
When her memory became disarrayed
She couldn't remember who he was
Each day it broke his heart
He loved and took care of her
Though it tore his heart apart
Each day he'd say; Good morning, Sunshine
She'd reply; Do I know you? 
He'd smile and say; I'm just a friend
A friend that you once knew
One day, she had a moment of clarity
She reached out and called his name
He wept and held her close to him
But he knew nothing would be the same
One day the light in her eyes went out
He held her and kissed her goodbye
They had a beautiful life together
But it passed in a blink of an eye
