A Bold Approach

It is hard to write a poem, 
When its all been done before.
Striving for a bold approach.
Fresh new avenues to explore.

One imaginative and original, 
One to grab your attention.
One of a differing perspective, 
One displaying great invention.

Just how good is any poet, 
When thinking outside the box.
That eureka spark of inspiration, 
To scribe something unorthodox.

Oh, but my dear fellow poet,
There are rules written in stone.
Poetry dictums one must abide by,
Or poetry stands bare and alone.

Well poetry rules should be broken,
Then smashed to smithereens.
I say damn the poetry torpedoes,
The end justifies the means.

Yes break with poetry tradition, 
Write it in your own way.
For any poem bold and new, 
Deserves to have its say.
