A Broken Cosmos
As the moon was never made to burn,
I was never made to be loved by you.
As sure as stars watch the Earth turn
And blades of grass collect morning dew,
I loved you with my open heart.
Yet there was nothing, nothing at all
That could stop it all from tearing apart.
So, I sat back and watched the cosmos fall.
There were violet heughs in your eyes,
A milky way, a galaxy of sparkling diamonds
That falling to earth in their demise,
Crashed with fire upon the next horizon.
Then they were gone. Night was eternal,
It still is. A never-ending darkness
With no stars to shine or light in general
To give fight upon the blackness.
With no stellar cruise line to your love,
I sail upon the open freeway of time
With nothing bellow and no light above
The sails, unfurled, in their endless climb.
I wait for that bang, a spark, a flicker
That reignites the dry dark sky.
The only stars are twinkling bottles of liquor
That take me back to the cosmos, to die.
