A Christmas Ghost Poem

Dear sweet friend
of memories light,
it is thee I haunt
this Christmas night.
I drift through my ruins
of longing bones,
along cobbled streets
of bitter snow and stones.
My hollow spirit
of Winter chill,
lingers in shadows
upon the dark hill.
Wringing the past
in the dirt and dew,
I rise cold from the earth
and come to you.
A broken voice
of lament in woe,
a still heart,
an immortelle of faded rose.
For a dear sweet love
of memories light,
rejoice in the thrill
of life fulfilled.
Untainted by the thorn
of bitter remorse,
that pierces and poisons
the heart to ill.

Got me just yearning for more. I was stuck in the flow. An extremely engaging write Tony. Clever one. Peace and smiles, happy holidays too. The Fish of the Sea.
" A broken voice of lament in woe." this is a great line! this seems to have more of the essence of disembodied spirits sent here without a body though it speaks of bones. They didn't keep their first estate and try to deceive us in believing they received one! just my humble perception. nice write! .............................................................Jim

Because I noticed I had missed a few, I am going through your pages my friend. Your work deserves to be seriously taken notice of. I love this christmas ghost story x
Hi Tina, I“m thrilled that you are taking the time to read some of my poems. Thank you so much! I love a good ghost story, especially at Christmas. Have you read M.R. James? A must if you like classic atmospheric ghost stories, probably one of the best writers of the genre. The BBC have adapted some of his short stories for television, I recommend them, someone has uploaded them to Youtube, do not watch them alone though as I do, very unnerving and frightening. :) A student paranormal investigation society invited me to attend an investigation at a location that has a reputation for paranormal activity some years ago. Fascinating but very frightening. Thank you for your lovely comment. XX
