The Kestrel

The Kestrel

Through the haze
of ages,
chainmail warrior
upon wings of auburn flames,
igniting the meadows and marsh,
in a flash of windblown blades,
a floating talon star.
A storm of gravel through
ultraviolet light,
searing the air, singing
the dawn clouds red and pearl hue,
morning star falling upon the dove
adorning the fern and rose,
in miniature worlds of shining dew,
into the wind
as high as the motionless mountains
flickering upon a sunray,
shimmering light across the mother of pearl sky
in razor slate grey and russet blue.
