A Darkened Hallway

There’s a red door down this darkened hallway
What’s on the other side? I can’t get in, the door is locked
I try to put my ear up to it, but something is in the way
Whatever it is, it's invisible, I can’t see it, what is it that’s blocked?
Is it my past? Is it my present? Is it my future?
I can’t help but think, and it’s driving me crazy
What if my brain gets too overwhelmed and punctures
Will I lose my vision or will it just become hazy?
This red door, down this darkened hallway
Has me intrigued, has me so amused, it’s hard to walk away
I get a few steps away, and I run right back
What could possibly be behind this door?
I can see a little through the tiny cracks
There’s a dim light coming through onto the floor
I wonder if it’s something good, something bad
Is it something great, is it something grand?
I’ll never know because I can’t get through
There’s a red door down this darkened hallway
And I really don’t know what to do
But finally give up, turn, and walk away
