A Faded Rose

A Faded Rose
γ
What will she do when her looks are gone and she is all alone
Will she stay at home and no longer answer the telephone
γ
They say that beauty is merely skin deep
But sheβs got promises of her youth to keep
γ
Someone used to love with her both heart and soul
Sheβll tries hard not to allow her age to take itβs toll
γ
Her broken heart now lays tied in knots
No longer certain of all of the gifts sheβs got
γ
Her life has become a highway sprawled out in front of her
But her tender heart always remains giving and pure
γ
Her ever lonely heart still longs to roam
Sheβll wander for miles before coming home
γ
She gazes into her bedroom mirror only to see
The mirrored evidence of her now faded beauty
γ
She remembers when she was the belle of the ball
A beautiful summer rose who was revered by all
γ
Her wrinkles mark the aging sands of time
She looks for answers and she awaits a sign
γ
Her aging fragile heart now made of glass
Trapped by the fleeting memories of the past
γ
Only memories get her through each passing night
She wishes she could reach out and walk into the light
γ
She prayers for hope and answers from a spirit guide
She would like to fulfill her destiny but her hands are tied
γ
For now she will rely on the comfort of the drink
As further inside of herself she slowy sinks
γ
Once a beautiful rose who was admired by one and all
But with the sands of time comes her sorrowful fall
