"A Fresh Start"

"For 15 years,
I slowly dug,
my own grave,
and didn't think,
God was someone,
who could save.
I thought He,
was if real,
so unkind.
He wasn't someone,
I really wanted to find.

Now I realize,
I broke His Heart,
and I did it,
right from the start,
and He was trying,
so hard,
to find a way,
into my heart,
I had walled up,
out of stone,
and during that time,
addiction rattled my bones,
as I made drugs,
my unholy santctuary,
and home.

The Devil had me wrapped,
right around his finger,
as my confusion,
always seemed to linger.
I was in the grips of despair,
and didn't really care,
but God awakened,
these rattled bones,
and as I slowly,
made Him my home,
I tore down the walls,
all around my heart,
and He gave me the strength,
to make a fresh start."
