Poem -

A Hint Of Auburn In The Golden Sun

When I saw your face for the very first time, I finally understood those movies. You know, the ones about love at first sight. My entire world stopped. Dead, on it's axis track. Like a remote controlling time. I stood still, paused.  Frozen. My heartbeat thawing from your beauty. Picking drops of rain suspended mid fall, right before my eyes. I am drawn to you like magnets. Something I can not explain, yet would never fight.

I want you to be the stories I write about, in my book of life.
Where the chapter never ends.
Where my pen only speaks of the morning sun,
Peaking through your window.
Silhouetting your plaid pajamas, refreshing rise, relaxing stretch.
How I am jealous that it gets to see you first thing in the morning.
Kissing your body with golden fingertips.
How I am jealous of your coffee cup.
Meeting your lips with every sip.
Filling you with warmth from head to toe, becoming the breathe to your every breath.

I want to be the illustrator of your daily canvas.
Paint blue skies overhead without the clouds.
Drawing birds in flight, singing your favorite songs.
Radio stations for mornings drive.
I'll melt dyed wax together, into a cylinder crayon shape, wrapped with construction type paper label.
Protecting colors, perfect blend.
I decided to call it;
"Light Brown, Honey's Tint, With A Hint Of Auburn In The Golden Sun".
Named after your eyes.
How they are perfectly colored,
Inside the lines.

I want you to be the stories I write about, in my book of life.
Where the chapter never ends.
Where my pen only speaks of the midnight moon,
Peaking through your window.
Silhouetting your plaid pajamas,
Laying in bed, your peaceful rest.
How I am jealous that it gets to see you last thing in the night.
Rubbing your head, lying next to you.
How I am jealous of your comforter, holding you close, it gets to tuck you in.
Filling you with warmth from head to toe, safely wrapped beneath loves blanket.

I want to be the illustrator of your nightly canvas.
Paint dark skies overhead without the clouds.
Drawing stars above, shining gentle light.
Touching your forehead, healing energy.
Moon lights kiss goodnight.
If I had the means, I would go back.
Back to all lives of our past.
So I could meet you for the very first time,
Over and over again.
