A Little Breath Of Scandal

A little breath of scandal,
And a pair of intent ears.
Suddenly a public tale is told,
Only fading after many years.
The downfall of desolate souls,
With once friends passing by.
A little breath fanned by a breeze,
People wonder wonder why...
An anonymous social media posting,
Slander words smear slur accusations.
Pillars of salt mirroring pillars of sand,
On rumour gossip hearsay foundations.
But torn souls are slow to mend,
Alas should they ever mend at all.
For tittle-tattle wounds so deeply,
A guilty till proven innocent befall.
A little act of kindness,
Where are those intent ears.
Where is said breeze to circulate,
It may bloom over the years.
For little deeds mean nothing,
Only nasty rumours fly.
It seems all wrong- but is it so,
People wonder wonder why...

Hello Shaun, I absolutely love this, brilliantly done, ...... it gave me aalot to think about....it's so easy for one thing to be taken out of context, then a whole world of bad publicity whirlpools around, spinning everything out of context.
When everyones life is displayed and sometimes dismantled so publicly,Ā It resonates with me as some of the more charitable and positive things people do these days can be for "likes" rather than because they want to help others..
but at the same time, people are being more charitable and kind and that is a good thing, even if the reasons behind are a little less selfless.
Great writeĀ

Love Lorna xx
Hello Lorna and glad you of all people enjoyed it and you get it.
You've hit the proverbial nail on the head when people are targeted and their world unravels before them due to malicious gossip and canards.
But like you say there are people who are more charitable and thankfully less selfish than their darker schadenfreude opposites.
The good outweighs the badĀ in perpetuity and I'm glad it's that way.
And with regards to the attached song was originally going to upĀ
Nothing Has Been Proved by Dusty Springfield and The Pet Shop Boys, from what else, the movie Scandal.
Then went for the one above, for there's a melody in it with the words
' what have I done to deserve this' and' how am I gonna get through' both at the same time and thought it was apt for what must go through a marked person's mindset and how they try to cope.
And it has showgirls in it who were notorious with scandals in past Parisian high society and Christine Keeler was also one in the Soho club where she worked.
And it's a superb song!
Thanks Lorna and glad you liked it and what it has to say bonny lass :)

Shocking isn't it how great reputations that have taken years to build and to bolster can be ruined in a matter of micro seconds and by just a few words strategically placed or said to the right or the wrong person ..
and whilstĀ it may feel that the number of intentional targets/victims are on the increase these days because of how quick news can spread and by so many means .. I suspect that there have always been victims of libel and slander throughout history ..
am I barking up the wrong tree .. or am I just barking .. they don't call me Rover for nothing ..Ā
Muchly enjoyed Shaun ..Ā
AGT's, NevilleĀ
Blimey Nev I nearly missed you here was going to turn in and you never bark up the wrong tree and you see it with crystal clarity, for hey, here's the modern age with social media platforms everywhere, now lets see who reputation and livelihood we can destroy with one falsely worded posting that cuts like a knife.
Blah, blah, blah and all poisonous written by a viper.
And Nev, it will sadly never end for human ego dark id and vanity- never does.
So screw 'em, or am I being scandalous here.š
Thanks again Nev and respect for stopping by here :)
Ā
Damn, I popped back for seconds and instantly noticed that I had previously omitted to hit like and add pin .. Now sorted .. NevilleĀ
Nev, mucho thanks for again stopping by here and for doing that.
See and read you soon my friend :)
No prob Shaun .. always a pleasure & always mine mate :)Ā
Shaun I love the flow and the words which magically fit together to produce a poem that kicks us up the arse. I don't know if it's just me but the world has become a disgusting, threatening place with the rise of technology. Camers everywhere, lies, fake influencers, people stuck in lonely lives with 1 million friend...I hate it all...I.love your poem X
Marion, glad to know you appreciated it and you get to the crux and point of things directly and a good kick up the arse is what these people need and will ever understand.
And yeah tech and cameras are the norm everywhere in the world, lies heaped upon lies and fake influencers on youtube and from what I hear about social networks, telling the unenlightened (their cult) how to live their lives and some of them are arrested then banged up. Real delusions of grandeur with those fruitcakes.
I don't know aboutĀ 'people stuck in lonely lives with 1 million friends' for I choose not to be on any social platform Facebook, Twitter or any of the usual suspects.
Spare me, for I have enough friends and none are posing wankers!!!
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts Marion and hugs :)
Shaun xx

I am not a fan of gossip, I Live in a town that's small and the curtains around twitch constantly but it makes me chuckle, you have a very wise verse here gossip in the wrong hands can certainly kill a soul. I find this more amusing than anything but there is also a seriousness that I really appreciate. š¹
