A Mighty Eagle
 
Blissfully drinking in the morning sun
Another sleepless night is over and done
 
How I would love to be able to sleep
I find myself drowning in waters deep
 
I would like to sail the Seven Seas
But is this only in my dreams
 
I gave you the ocean and sandy shore
But your heart just wanted more
 
On a silver platter I gave you my heart
And now it lies simply torn apart
 
You bring my sad blue eyes to tears
Have I wasted all the passing years?
 
My heart and head are just a mess
My imaginary sins I feel I must confess
 
Just want to sail upon the endless ocean blue
Find a loving heart who’s intentions are true
 
Our unhappy love affair so close to dead
To and winding thorny path is where it led
 
Tempting winds please carry me home
Helping me to escape a heart of stone
 
Escape all of the blackness that has become
Sleep with happiness when the day is done
 
My dreams simply fade in the blackness of night
Want to spread my wings in the glorious sunlight
 
You have given me little faith in myself
Why couldn’t I be loving someone else
 
I will get to the highest peak even if I have to crawl
I may lose my balance but swear I will never fall
 
Just like a mighty eagle spread my wings and fly
Reaching out and touching Mother Nature’s sky
