A mothers gift

It isn't just a cross
How to explain the depths of its loss?
Gifted to me by the woman who bore me
Who sought to restore me
Every day around my neck
With pride of rememberence I wore it
Lost for three days that felt an eternity
Felt a break of connection unexplainable
A replacement for which unobtainable
In ogam was scribed "faith"
The lessons I learned from her
Faith that there is more that is beautiful
The ugliness can be endured
Faith that the path can be traveled
Though sometimes it may be obscured
Faith to embrace the world wholeheartedly
What has been broken can be salvaged
Faith that this world can't beat us
Souls shall endure no matter how ravaged
