A Mothers Love

A Mothers Love

I'll give you my tomorrow
if you give me your today.
A mothers love is boundless,Ā
I'll make it go away.

I want to feel the pain you hold,Ā
and give you back your life,Ā
To run and play with kids again,Ā
to grow old with your wife.

To take away the daily fearĀ
you have to face each day,Ā
I'd welcome every single ache
and won't meet you halfway

To give you back some semblance
of a future not just past.
Good health to help sustain you
through the years and then will last

I want to make it go away,Ā
but weep because no one
can do what I would do for you,Ā
my darling, precious Son

Nothing compares to a Mothers love and that overriding need toĀ  protect your kids- even if they dont realise it, see it or acknowledge it and maybe refute it!!! Great write xx

I'll give you my tomorrow
if you give me your today.

And therein lies the key; the sacrifice that each mother must make to and for her children.

Lovely poem...insightful, determined...but resonant with the echoes of willing loss and melancholy which is the hallmark of all true sacrifice.

I just love reading your comments Jason! you always offer such a personal insight into whatever you read and you are so right in that love often demands sacrifice and maternal love is just one of many. Thank you so muchĀ  xxx
