A Penny For My Thoughts

I started building a rare coin collection, when I was just twelve years old;
Called a United States Type Set, coins that by dealers only were sold!
It was one of every variety, from Half Cents to rare Silver Dollars;
I perused Numismatic magazines, for specimens I wanted to collar!
.
The goals I set were far reaching, each coin had to be brand new;
Or what we called Brilliant Uncirculated, with beautiful colors and hue!
My Father loved what I was doing, so he gave to me financial aid;
For Type coins can be quite expensive, when bought in the highest of grades!
.
There are coins that most never heard of, like the Two and Three Cent ones;
The U.S. Mint had several issues, that they made in very short runs!
My collection quickly was growing, each month, Iโd fill in some spots;
I had three custom-built cases, for these gem pieces I eagerly sought!
.
I also was very fortunate, to have a major dealer in town;
My Fatherโs friend, James Kelley, a man of World renown!
His company was in the same building, that also my Fatherโs was;
One day, I saw a coin in his window, for which I had avid lust!
.
There lay a 1794 Large Cent, uncirculated, so chocolate red;
It was much more expensive than normal, a very rare one for me to get!
I showed this gem to my Father, said, โI know itโs way too expensive beโ;
But a few weeks later, on Christmas morning, it lay there under our tree!

Dear Greg,
I know the exact books you are talking about, called "Whitman Coin Folders".ย The rarest two pennies are the 1909-S-V.D.B., and the 1914-D.ย ย
As for the 1794 Large Cent that I had, I would guess it's value today could be as high as $20,000.
The million dollar Large Cent you are referring to, would have to be one from 1793, particularly, The Chain Cent.
Love,

yes I had the 1909-s but it wasn't the VDB and iย did have 1914 -d I had from 1909 -1918 and 20s 30s 40s 50s 60s pennys I should have keep it oh well
that 1794 coin would have to fine that means no nicks or scratches then a that 1794 could as much as 1 mil or more
These words of wisdom I deeply savor
do me an honor by returning the favor
The words you write e'er bring me joy
Sate the heart of this hungry boy
