A penny for your thoughts are you thinking about me ?
As you are staring out into oblivion day-dreamily
I can tell you are happy by the look on your face
Were we strolling arm in arm in a particular place ?

We share so many memories you and I my dear
Most of them are lovely but some are sad I fear
Our forty two Christmases full of families with cheer
As I reminisce from those bygone years my mindfulness is unclear

If only I could relive our past once again
Mind you just the good times not the heartache and pain
All of our loved ones would be with us once more
Wouldn’t that be lovely and a dream to adore

Oh you are back from your pie in the sky with a solemn expression and a teardrop in your eye
And you’ve told me you were thinking about our yesteryears gone by
But that was Oh so long ago 
how the passing time does fly
