A Poem to the Hopeful

A Poem to the Hopeful

To the ones who lend their coats to strangers,

And would rather freeze to death;

To the ones who leave fragments of their smile

With each person that they've met;

To the ones who see the beauty

Within each passing faceβ€”

Who see the wrong in those they love,

And put excuses in its place;

To the ones who are lied to,

And constantly let down,

Yet always find a way

To give the benefit of the doubt;

To the hopelessly hopeful,

The misunderstood,

The ones who'd change the world

If only they believed they could:

Don't stop. Don't stop ever!

Stay true to your soul!

Never lose the part of you

That is most beautiful.

Excuse every wrong deed if you must;

Never lose hope!

Change the world, and if you can't,

Then give away all your coats!
