The Pied Piper
Truth and fact are precious gems
That so easily we tend to lose
When talking politics and presidency,
And naively listening to the news.Â
Your voice and your opinion,
As propaganda shall be used
To push political agendas,
Allowing discrepancies to be excused.
There’s more than meets the eye,
A substantially deeper ruse;
For the power behind the media,
A brilliantly talented muse,
Stands before the public,
Performing its biased, twisted tune,
Watching its party follow in dance,
Under the illusion that they choose.Â
And we, fellow Americans,Â
Have allowed power to be abused,
Willingly placed it in unworthy hands,
And sanctioned its misuse.Â
We have given away our freedom,
Allowed our rights to be refused
As we follow our Pied Piper,
Uninformed and ingeniously seduced.Â

Wow. Such a deep and thought-provoking read.
It really is insane how much of our loves are controlled and governed for us without our even realising it- When we did 'The Power of Advertising' in school, it was really disturbing just how much time and effort is spent manipulating our every decision. We watched a documentary about advertising, and some of those people were real creeps- they would video-record children playing in the park and all sorts of stuff.
Advertising, the media, politics- so many bad influences in our lives that convince us that it is we making the decisions rather than them making them for us.
Good poem.
