A Pretty Penny

The prettiest penny, hands down, that the U.S. ever made;
Is the Flying Eagle One Cent Piece, but very short it stayed!
Only three years was it minted, 1856-1858;
Replaced by the Indian Head design, 1859 the date!

Few people have ever seen one, except numismatists and such;
They are delicate and beautiful, I love them very much!
And if I was a rich man, with lots of money flying in;
I would buy many pretty pennies, a rare collection I’d begin!

I would start out with the first one, the Large Cent of 1793;
Each coin would be a high grade, no worn out culls for me!
I’d have all the many varieties, ending with the Flying Eagle Cent;
Each day I’d marvel at their beauty, and shout “My dollars so well spent”!
