A Reason for Me

Their is so much beauty in my sadness
Yet so little in my smile
So over time, after a while
It seems despair has become my style
Rainbows and butterflies
And gently falling flowers
Just can't hold their own
Next to blood soaked crumbling towers
And nights lost in lonely hours
Sunshine and happiness
Sighing with pleasure in the gentle breeze
Just doesn't captivate the mind
Like recounting the nights spent bound on my knees
Fresh cut grass on a summer's day
Watching my beautiful children play
Just wont make a dull and broken life
Seem any less lifeless and gray
However, bleeding out my wounded heart just may
Seeing others laughing with joy
And loving life
When yours seems a constant battle
It cuts like a knife
Seeing the results of another
Usually so strong and brave
Attempting to use a pin
To try and dig their own grave
Makes us feel a bit better about how we behave
So I will slice open my heart
And pour out my deepest regrets and desires
Believe me, my friend
Those that claim not to relate
Are just liers
So maybe those who happen to see
My pages soaked and dripping in agony
Will feel a bit less alone, less broken
And connect through written empathy
Maybe in this I can create a reason for being me...
Maybe

You've described my feeling here to a tee, Twilla, and quite poetically I might add.
It is the reason why I often write about the rather morbid topics I choose.
I call it a purging of the soul, if you will, and get all of the poison out of my system through my writing.
That way I'm able to maintain an even balance between the shadowy realms of depression and the colourful, wondrous thoughts of wonder and beauty.
The gossamer wings of a butterfly.
The sun sparkling off a placid pool of water.
The whispering of a summer's breeze through the leaves of the trees.
Excellent poetry, as per your usual.
I pinned this one.

I noticed, because of course I did. I can't help but glow at talented writers appreciating my work . After reading one of yours I have started looking for an old poem I wrote about Zombies. Hoping I find it soon o I can post it tonight. ♡♡♡
