Poem -

A Refugee

BOOM,
CRASH,
The sound of bombing outside,
As the gunfire became louder,
The fighting creeped closer,
Defeated,
Humiliated,
We ran away,
Forced to another country,
Where we became strangers,
It’s uneasy,
You wouldn’t know,
Everything,
Gone,
Lost upon flames,
Of rage and defeat.
Excited,
Yet in unrealisation,
Their culture isn’t the same,
Socialising was hard,
I didn’t understand,
Australia was different,
Not like I expected.
Many days,
I just looked in,
Hoping to play,
A strange game they called,
Tennis,
I asked a man,
He thought me how,
He let me in as one of his own,
We became close,
Like father and son,
It was his act of kindness,
That took me in,
Helped me,
To help others,
Others,
Like me.

Hey TEGAN!!...a very compelling piece filled with some very creative phrasing that paints truly powerful imagery in the minds eye of the reader......I like the way you started it using onomatopoeia to draw the reader in!!........facing the danger and then being taken in by a stranger comes across quite vividly!!......ALL STARS!!...well done dear poet brother.....and......in case no one has said so.......WELCOME to COSMO!!......LOVE & ROCKETS!!......T xo ?✴?
