A Step Into Christmas

A first taste of Christmas - true story

A Step Into Christmas

There was a time when Christmas had a dimmed light.
It had no place in the dark and was kept from our sight.
We watched from the sidelines at the seasons display,
while a storm kept its thunder that blanketed our way.
''Pray a little harder," was what we'd been told to do,
because it really was all that we knew.
There was little hope as the rain kept its hold,
because ours souls were chained by a prison blindfold.
Wolves in Sheep's clothing had kept us at bay,
with their ongoing tales that kept Christmas away.
But then a wish set in motion and sent of a glow
and we stepped from the shadow that was purer than snow.
An open invitation with a reality so bright,
like a child's fairytale that swept in magic's delight.
It was something surreal that guided our way,
with a gift of some carols on its musical days.
What showers us now are bright shimmering lights
and stars on our trees as Christmas smiles with us tonight.
