'A Submissive Flame'

Gone are the waves -Â
that rocked youths boat,
Now remaining gentle ripples,
the ships of his youth are but specks
on the horizons of his yesterdays.
He is a settled man,
contentment he has found.
..................
Nothing to disturb the sediments of his life,
goodbye turbulent youth,
So full of life's foolish follies,
merging now to the recesses of his mind.
Resting near dormant,
like, a half spent match.
He is a settled man,Â
contentment he has found.
..................
His submissive flame
became an ember, of yesterdays,
growing into a settled glowing ash.
The casting nets have now drawn in
the fragments of youth, which have
Harvested into submission.
He is a settled man,
contentment he has found.

Hey OLIVIA!!..... you know what I love about this piece? (smiles)......the repetition of ~ " He is a settled man "...it reminds me of Neil Young lyrics.....I honestly believe that this could be a song...... speaking straight to the heart of a man's 'coming into his own'.......a beautifully crafted and honest look inside contentment's potential...... it's interesting that you write this as a woman, speaking of a man..... who ever inspired this has to be someone you knew/know quite well!!......ALL STARS!!...... well done dear poet sister!!......LOVE and ROCKETS!!.....T xo ????â¤
