A Town Without Pity
Dedicated to the people of Mexico Beach, Florida
Michael unleashed his fury, showed not one ounce of pity;
On a little place in Florida, called Mexico Beach, the city!
While others took his punches, he chose this one to KO;
How many people lost their lives there, the rescuers still donโt know!
.
They are sifting through the rubble, of what once stood proud and tall;
But everything is leveled, there is nothing left at all!
With winds of plus one-fifty, they didnโt stand a chance;
This monster knocked them senseless, when they tried to take a stance!
.
We cry for our fellow Americans, who were caught within harmโs way;
We pray for those who left us, sent to Heaven on that day!
We wait for a relief fund, to donate dollars to help you;
Our dear friends down in Florida, we plan to come to your rescue!
.
.

Nature is the ultimate assassin of mankind. well penned Larry
My Dear Lisa,
Exacerbated now by Global Warming!ย Mankind must make a stand against this fiend, who means to wipe us off the face of the Earth.
Love,

Hello Larry...
I wonder how many children will have to die before it's a Law toย a Mandatory Evacuation for anyone with children?
โโโโโโPeople don't heed the warnings, yet...
Then they get shell shocked because, they chose to stay home...
Maybe,ย not everyone can leave for safety but, those who can and choose to stay under a Mandatory Evacuation Order maybe, they want to die...
They ride storms out and risk their lives and put people at risk to rescue them...
The Gulf water is warm, that's major fuel for a Hurricane...
โโโโโโStorms don't have pity...
They never have and they never will...
2 miles an hour more and it would have been a Cat 5...
โโโโโโMore strong and powerful they're becoming yet, no one believes it...
I don't know why people are in shock, it's not news...
When you live in prone areas it's not going to stop disasters because people think it won't happen to them or they've ridden out Storms before...
When people move to Alaska they never expect a Blizzard?
Hawaii and not expect or experience a Volcano?
How they don't see that they can't stop their house from becoming a kite or stop a falling tree with their head?
When the power goes out they still think they can get gasoline?
Someone should explain it better that they can't...
I thought after Storms of the past it would wake people up it but, made instead make them think they can survive anything that comes at them and then they lose a loved one and they're devastated...
When chances are with some common sense many would still be alive...
I heard a News Reporter ask Will People ever learn and he got no response...
I would have told him if they haven't by now no, probably not...
Great write!
Thank you for sharing...
Hugs...

My Dear Sweet sparrowsong,
What an incredible comment, one of the most comprehensive that I have ever received!ย You have made so many valid points.ย I too, cannot understand these people who ignore Mandatory Evacuations, as you say, especially the ones who put their children's lives in danger.ย I don't think there is anyone who cannot be taken out of harm's way early, if they choose to.ย The only thing that I take umbrage with, is that most of the shelters will not allow pets, and these beloved Souls deserve to be rescued too.ย Linda and I could have NEVER left our beloved Nico and Cody behind!
The Gulf is 4 degrees warmer than it has ever been in October.ย Unfortunately, this is just the beginning of the carnage that Global Warming will bring.
Is it too late for Mankind to save ourselves?
Again, I thank you so much for your heartfelt words.
All my love,
Larry xxxย
Hello Larry...
I understand about not wanting to leave your pets...
But, what happens to them when the home is gone and there's nowhere for anyone to live?
That's a sad reality when people can't help people and everyone stays to themselves and only think of themselves...
Where I live it's a huge community and everyone chips in with all kinds of stuff...
It's awesome...
Many just wave hello but, we all take care of one another...
People ask me a lot of how I'm doing and do I need anything?
They know I don't have family here and I do random acts of kindness and I know if anything I needed people would come together...
I hope I never do, I'd be afraid to ask because I would need a bigger house to put it all in..
If you don't accept the gifts that's a big time No No...
โโโโโIf more people were like this and if more people realized it takes a tribe to accomplish much and to take care of each other it really is a positive...
Dead people don't take care of Animals I asked and got no volunteers though some live ones don't either and there was a time where it was all for one and one for all...
Technology and other things isolate people and there's times where you need to be proactive in making plans and preparations...
When a storm is pounding down your door and ripping your roof off and stealing your walls and drowning your furniture and trying to drown people too, it's too late...
โโโโโโI could see if people weren't warned at all but, we have high tech and we are informed better than most Countries...
โโโโโSometimes storms turn at the last minute if you're in any type of path or if you think you could be it's a persons choice for the most part to sit like a dead duck...
Elderly and Children don't really have a choice...
It's up to each and everyone us to make sure people are safe and the Rescuers can make it home too...
Hugs again...

Our Dear sparrowsong,
On February 3, 2007, at 3:13 in the morning, a tornado hit our community, with winds in excess of 200 mph.ย We had been given no warning by the weather people, and it tore through several neighborhoods, but fortunately, our homes being newly built, protected us from fatalities.ย Yet, unfortunately, twenty-one people died just four miles away, at two mobile home parks.ย As for our area, eleven hundred homes sustained damage, sixty-five of them totally destroyed.ย Our own home had a hundred thousand dollars damage, due to flying debris putting eight large holes in our roof, and the attic getting inundated with the rain.ย The wind hit the front of our home, blowing in our front door, office and shattering every window.ย Yet, the garage door held.ย Fortunately, we were all in the master bedroom at the back of the house, and were in shock but fine.ย The storm resulted in us having to be out of our home for 5 months for it to be repaired.ย ย
Right after the storm, people came out to the streets, with flashlights, and tears.ย We had a neighbor, who was a real hero.ย He was a retired contractor, who when all of us smelled gas in the air, and heard hissing sounds coming from six gas mains, ran home and got the tool to turn them off.ย He then, with no thought for his own safety, got them all closed.ย Cars were overturned on lawns, ours had flown up in the air and all the windows and electronics were blown to bits, and debris was everywhere.ย People were holding one another, everyone willing to pitch in for the homes of others that were the worst hit.
So when you talk about a close knit community, we know exactly what you mean.
Love,
Linda and Larry xxx
