A Towns Loss

A town and a family mourn today.
There best and brightest has been taken away.
This town will not forget him and the tragic way he left this world
To be with his mother on that very day.
He was loved by everyone and he would never
turned them away.
He brought joy to everyone with his big happy smile
that never went to far to stray.
He loved his family and his friends and his God.
For he is the one that called him on that tragic day.
He helped fight for our children and for our schools
each and everyday.
Behind the scenes he helped push the way for a greater
Man we called Governor Mel Carnahan who
left this world that same tragic day.
The son of this man was also called away.
For he knew on this day he would be going to a better place.
This town and this family and this state who have
mourned these last few days of a loss of this great state.
He and Mel had been soul mates.
He loved him like a son and knew they would be together
In a better place. For there was no better place to be.
This state mourns for the best Governor we may have ever seen.
For he may not have been with out the man who stood always stood
Behind this msn on the sidelines.
This man I write about is Chris Sifford.
We thought he might be our Governor one day before
God took him on that horrific tragic day.
We knew you were with us when we put you away.
I know they will not forget you, for you put a smile in there soul and tenderness
In there heart.
You touched so many people in your short lived life
The town of Puxico will never forget your laughter and your smile and your family
That loved you so dearly and even I,
For we were just kids the last day you made me
Smile.

Thank you Jeff,
I had so much emotion inside me I had to let it out. I found out about the plain crash on TV. I was such a shock I was very upset. I went to the funeral I met all of the dignitary's from the State of Missouri. It was a huge funeral the school gem was used to hold all the people who came to pay their respects. I was flabbergasted when i was asked if it could be used in the book. I did not get any money for it but just to have it in a book in a store was enough.
I went to Barns and Noble and ask if they had the book and the lady found it for me. I said let me show you something. I went to the front of the book and said I wrote this poem in this book .I almost cried she read it and said that is beautiful.
It is awesome to go in and see your work in a public place.
I am glad you enjoyed it .
Candy

Hey CANDANCE!!....a beautiful tribute to say the very least...... the back story with the lady reading it aloud....... the tears shed from being a part of that experience...... that kind of validation does not come along often for a writer...... the fact that you wrote it was a selfless act....... the selfless act was returned to you in kind!!........ the universe is telling you to keep writing...... the "whole thing" is beautiful.......ALL STARS sweet poetess!!........ well done...... and .......WELCOME to COSMO!!.......LOVE and ROCKETS!!.......T xo. ?
Thank you Tony,
This was a very emotional time for me. I wrote this while I was at work it just came to me and I jaf to get it down on paper. Everything that was said in this is very true. Some of which I took from what was said at his funeral that stuck with me.
I am so glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks again,
Candy Garska
