A Winter Night

The cold wind beat upon the window pane,
Jack Frost stared into the room.
The snow covered each lane
And from the sky there came a loom.
The bright moon spun a halo,
The stars danced gaily by.
The trees raised their arms to follow
But were lost in a child's lullaby.
The roof tops glistened in silence,
White smoke from the chimneys drifted about
And all was merry with suspense
As the Winter night rolled out.
