A World of Lies

Sometimes I wonder why I am here
no ones around no one is near
I was brought into a world of lies
Every ounce of energy goes into a tear
My heart hurts, and yerns to be seen
Sometimes not more can I take
I feel as though life is not worth the pain
Suffering, much greater than gain
Not a day passes I don't try
To tell myself my world is not a lie
Then I stop and take a look around
slowly tears fall to the ground
I see lonliness, the lost of life
A world full of shame and strife
In a world that I was brought into
full of lies, and despair

yes, I agree, there are thorns and bristles as far as the eyes can see...yet there are roses growing here and there if you take the time and look carefully....Mathew, this is a very thought provoking poem, a good write to be sure, and I'm cynical by nature, it takes effort for me to see anything in a positive light some days, but it's not impossible, good things always take an effort to take hold, no? Good poem, the tone is what it is....be well, poet
