Title: “Ace Albatross”
Objective: To create a new sporting phenomenon that revitalizes the interest in golf and tennis, transforming them into a spectator-friendly, fast-paced game.
Equipment:
Golf clubs (putters recommended for precision)
Standard tennis balls
A modified tennis court with a “hole” on each side
Court Setup:
The court is a standard tennis court with the net in place.
Each side of the court has a “hole” located at the midpoint of the baseline, large enough for a tennis ball to fit through.
Rules:
Players use golf clubs to hit the tennis ball back and forth over the net.
The scoring follows traditional tennis rules (Love, 15, 30, 40, Game) until one player wins the set.
If a player hits the ball into the opponent’s hole at any point during the match, they are immediately declared the winner, regardless of the current score.
Standard tennis rules for serving, faults, and out-of-bounds apply.
Gameplay:
Players serve by hitting the ball with their golf club from behind the baseline.
The ball must bounce once before the receiving player can return it.
Volleys are allowed, but players cannot cross the net or obstruct the opponent’s shot.
The game is played in sets, and the first player to win 6 games with a lead of at least 2 games wins the set.
Spectator Experience: “Ace Albatross” is designed to be quick and dynamic, addressing the monotonous boredom often associated with watching traditional golf and tennis. The aim is to create a new sporting phenomenon and give the games of golf and tennis the burial they long deserve, being an outdated archaic pastime. “Ace Albatross” not only appeals to the existing base of hardcore enthusiasts but also attracts new fans seeking a more engaging and fast-paced experience. The strategic element of the hole as a sudden-death victory point adds a unique twist, ensuring that every match is filled with suspense and entertainment.Â
