Acting is universal
We are all playing a part in the grand stage that is this earth
It's clever how we all have a switch
For me personally it's just a simple click
Press this button
Flick
The next series I pick
to play on Nexflix
And I switch
Become a different person
A new persona
Hide from you who I am
Show you who you want to see
Acting is like being a chamelion
Adapting yourself to your environment
Alter yourself to suit the needs of that moment in time and place
Project the skin that needs to be seen in each situation
Put on a show
Put on that fake glow
Getting ready for my part on stage is easy
A quick mental wardrobe change
Playing my part on stage comes natural the longer I star as the lead
But
When the curtain calls
The armour falls
And I'll shy away into the shadows until it's time for my next perfomance
Feel like I'm now a disgrace
I must hide my true face
You must read your audience too
Know when it's time to quit
For you to quietly sit
Or when to flit
To another role to play
Again
To another script to say
Again
See I'm a talented actor
Practicing my craft for years
So I can really convey to you the belief
I am what I present
I'm good
I convince my audience I am what they see and by doing so almost fool myself I am the person I am playing
All I'm saying
Is I am realizing as my life keeps on replaying
That my acting is just delaying
The moment you turn off the screen
And the real me is finally seen

Acting... the way we want to be seen... Shelley your message here really resonates with me. Why do we act? To be accepted? I for one avoid social media and norms but that just makes me an outcast. It's a lose lose situation... despairing to see society turn in such a way. Fantastic and intriguing write.
I too avoid social media (we are outcasts together lol) however even in our normal lives we pick and choose how we behave based on who we are with, what we are doing, how we are feeling. It's crazy how many roles we all play throughout our lives. But yes our modern, globally broadcast version is taking it to the next level, where we literally are the movie stars in the films we put out onto the internet. Sometimes we might see glimmers of authenticity, but largely everyone is acting in one way or another. Glad you enjoyed my friend ☀❤

Love this! This is soooo true! We all put on an act of one kind or another. I wonder if any of us feels confident enough in ourselves to simply be 🎭 x
Very true. Sometimes I think we do but we quickly revert back to our stage persona whenever we feel we have been ourselves too long. I think the hard bit is training yourself to stay in those moments longer, realize that is the natural way to be, not the way we are all pretending. Acting takes a lot more effort than simply being ❤☀
