The Addict

She's soiled and she's filthy, she's wretched with grief
Stealthy and furtive and obscure was the thief
She was cheated, defrauded and looted of charm
Converted, mutated, allude to do harm
Anguish apparent, expressed on her face
Her delicate allure minute in it's trace
Slave to society she suffers alone
Her sickness so genuine, to others unknown
The sores on her skin tell tale of her ill
Those guilty, edacious, unconcerned that they kill
They sell their disease with illusion and ruse
They're dealing in death with the lives they abuse
Her life in the onset, still novice and green
All wonder before her is poached so unseen
To whom is she cherished, beloved, held dear?
She's abandoned, forsaken, in pain and with fear
With dominant command she's managed and ruled
Untethered yet bound she's restrained and subdued
Her bridle and rein, her enslaving dependence
No care and no healing, no aid nor assistance
Discarded, rejected, on plea for some aid
Accused and condemned and sentenced top pay
Her crime is her sickness, the penance Β endure
Misfortune Β or fate she's alone without cure
