Adulthood at Berth

Adulthood at Berth

Let me tell you bout my begging ins
We moved a lot but the worst was in
the hood around The Block and Waterloo

My place whiffed worse than the local tip
We had neighbours that did random 'stuff'
cussed, shot up, punched up and drank

hooked up, got fucked up, gambled and stank
Women got beaten blue on black
Hippies had orgies, junkies charred crack

Hookers and drag queens on the trot
the rest of us slow simmered in smoke
while others jumped out--Geronimo!

It was not the place one wanted to go
Flashing disco lights disrupt the night
thin body bags alight the dark scene

My childhood an obscene bad dream
