Advice to the Good Son

Mother kissed me in the morning
then sent me off to war
She packed love and goodness in my head
sensing all I might endure
humility she also tried her best to instill
knowing how my pride and anger
is so raw and over powering
But she showed me the right ways
the proper roads to walk on
and how to be the cool head;
the pacifist; 'the stronger one'
taught me never to be an instigator
or lust after perdition
always be a peace maker
For there is always darkness on horizon
so take a step back,
look around
use your common sense
and try to be the noble one
take the high road;
find a 'good' cliche'
to suit your mode
but somehow I knew
through wisdom or vision
that somewhere in the distance
despite all her good counselling
there would always be a need
to give out some old fashion 'ass whopping'

Reminiscent of a line from a poem, Maya Angelou once wrote.
"Here is my Christian lack, when I'm struck down, I strike back."
Good poetry point.
lol, I like that line Kimmy, it has a certain irony to it; since Christians are 'supposed' to be pacifists...makes me want to go read some Maya, cool man...thanks for that....cheers

Hey T, thanks bro. yeah I still like Cosmo, been super busy, but I did try this evening to write one, I try to post one every two week or so....yeah it is fun to not know where a write might take you, I don't write a lot of poetry; in relative terms, but I miss that part of it....cheers pal
