Afraid of the dark.
I peered under my cover,
Shone the torch on my feet.
The light made everything so much better.
But then thereād be a noise.
A scratch?
A creek?
A footstep?
Then more and more and more
Till I could hear large feet outside my door.
Iād hide under my covers, pretend I was fast asleep;
Yet I could still here the monster breath.
The door would open,
As its ominous presence looms.
Leaning over me.
I could feel my heart beating against the sheets.
I turned in horror to see only darkness,
Then a shadow of a familiar man.
His glaring eyes,
The only light I could see.
So I shone my torch to his face,
He jumped back but still he remained.
I knew this āmonsterā very well
Too well that Iād be embarrassed to tell
Joined by blood, but what will remain?
I turned off my light and lay in the dark.
The monster got closer and closer.
